Monday Evening Qigong Class: Boscombe

GATHER YOURSELF FOR THE WEEK AHEAD

An hour to resource and ground

Join me for Monday evening qigong in Boscombe – gentle movement, deep breathing, and stillness. A chance to arrive fully in your body, release what the weekend left behind, and meet the week from a place of calm rather than rush.

Each month follows a different theme, moving with the seasons and the elements. We explore traditional forms with curiosity and playfulness, learning ancient practices that help us meet modern life with more ease.

No experience needed. Come as you are.

What is Qigong?

Qigong (pronounced "chee-gong") is an ancient Chinese practice of gentle movement, breath, and meditation.

Imagine tai chi's flowing grace, yoga's mindful awareness, and meditation's stillness – all woven together. You move slowly, breathe deeply, and allow your attention to settle.

It's less about doing it "right" and more about feeling your way into each movement. Playful. Meditative. Restorative.

You don't need to be flexible, fit, or coordinated. You just need to be willing to slow down and pay attention.

Moving with the Seasons

March: Wood Element

As the earth wakes and green shoots push through soil, we work with Wood energy – the element of spring, growth, and new beginnings. Wood forms stretch and open, helping us release what's stuck and make space for what wants to emerge. Perfect timing as we move toward the spring equinox.

April: The Five Elements

In April, we journey through all Five Elements – Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. Each element has its own quality and wisdom, connecting to different organs, emotions, and seasons. You'll learn sequences that work with each element, discovering how qigong maps the body as energy and flow.

Why Monday Evening?

Monday sets the tone for everything that follows.

Instead of rushing from the weekend straight into the week's demands, this class offers a different kind of beginning. You gather your energy. You find your ground. You remember what it feels like to be present in your body rather than already three steps ahead in your mind.

By the time you leave, you're resourced: ready to meet the week from a place of steadiness rather than depletion.

What Changes

People notice different things: sleep comes more easily, shoulders drop away from ears, thoughts slow down and space opens up, breathing deepens without trying, Monday feels less like Monday.

Some find their way back to their body after years of living mostly in their head. Others discover they can be still without being restless. The practice works quietly, like water wearing stone smooth.

What People Say

"The class was energising and enlightening. I love Qigong and want to discover more."

"I am really enjoying the course and the classes are very powerful for me."

Who Comes

Everyone is welcome. Some people come because they're stressed and need somewhere to land. Others are curious about traditional practices or want something gentler than the gym. Some have done yoga or tai chi. Others have never tried anything like this.

What they have in common: a sense that slowing down might help, a willingness to try something different, a longing for more space in their lives. If that sounds like you, you belong here.

What to Expect

Come prepared: Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Bring layers as you may warm up during practice. We practice in bare feet or soft shoes.

In class: Gentle warm-ups, guided practice through seasonal qigong forms, breath work, and a short closing meditation. Everything is clearly explained and accessible to all levels.

The atmosphere: Calm, focused, and welcoming. You'll leave feeling more grounded and resourced for the week ahead.

Questions You Might Have

I've never done qigong before. Will I manage?
Absolutely. The movements are gentle and clearly guided. You work at your own pace.

Do I need to be flexible or fit?
Not at all. The practice works with whatever you have. Many people come precisely because they want something gentler.

What if I have an injury or health condition?
Please let me know when you book so I can offer modifications if needed. The practice is very adaptable.

Can I just try one class?
Yes, drop-ins are welcome subject to availability. However, booking a block ensures your space in this popular class.

Is this like yoga or tai chi?
Qigong shares qualities with both but has its own character – simpler movements, more focus on breath and energy. Read: What's the Difference Between Qigong and Tai Chi?

Will we practice outdoors?
From late spring through summer, we'll gradually move some classes to the beach.
